What Is The Symptoms of Kleine-Levin Syndrome?

The first onset of Kleine-Levin Syndrome or KLS is that about 90% of people who come down with this starts out like a cold or infection and also seems to be stress related. It also seems to be related to sleep deprivation, alcohol or marijuana use, physical exertion, traveling, or head trauma.

In the medical field it is thought that there may be some immunological link. However; there is no actual proof. Only about 25% of all people with the beginnings of KLS report events triggering these episodes.

The primary Symptoms in Patients with SLS is hypersomnia and is treated for a sleeping disorder. These patients often sleep at least 18 hours a day. Another primary symptom is altered mental state. They are hard to wake up and when woken they are very irritable and /or aggressive when prevented from sleeping.

Patients with KLS show cognitive impairment, confusion, amnesia, hallucinations, delusions or experience a dream like state very frequently.

Patients often have massive eating habits. 75% of these patients will usually eat anything that is put in front of them in massive amounts.

Most men who had KLS disease longer experience some sort of hypersexual behavior. Promiscuity, excessive masturbation, inappropriate sexual advances and other atypical behavior are also seen in men.

Women suffer more from depression during the events. However; patients with KLS have compulsions during this event.
