This is an oral sleep medication that is obtainable by prescription and is used to treat sleep disorders for a short term duration. This is a medication that is known as a hypnotic, which is made to help a person with a sleep disorder fall asleep faster and easier. Sonata is like any prescription medication, which means it is not right for every person; there are some people that will not be able to take it due their reaction to the medication. There are also people that have other types of conditions they take medications for, which will not be able to take this medication. Some of the reactions that can occur are dizziness, and being lightheaded, and it can cause memory loss in elderly patients or people with memory problems. Prior to surgery or dental work the surgeon or dentist should be alerted and it should not be taken by pregnant women. This medication should not be taken by people that are taking seizure medications, people that are taking melatonin, drugs that affect the liver enzymes, people taking antidepressants and people with heart disease or taking blood pressure medications.
