Risk Factors are there with Sleepwalking? |
Sleepwalking has become very common in younger children, instead of adults. If both parents of a child was sleepwalkers, than their children’s chances are increased. Some leading risk factors of sleep walking are: - Sleeping disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and also periodic limb movement disorders. - Sleep deprivation - Medications that are consumed to treat depression and insomnia - Drinking alcohol - Emotional and physical stress - Traveling - Sleeping in a different environment that what you are use to - Bright or a noisy environment that you are sleeping in - Fever - Headaches and migraines - Head injuries - Strokes - Hyperthyroidism - Premenstrual syndrome - Encephalitis Children who have sleep apnea are at an increasing risk of become a sleep walker. Also children that are wetting the bed has an increasing risk. Adults that have sleeping terrors could have an increasing chance of sleep walking. If you have any of these risk factors you might want to consult with your doctor to try and figure out a solution.
