What are Risk Factors for Sleep Issues?

There are some risk factors for when you are having sleep problems or either sleep apnea. The risk factors vary some depending on what disorder you might have but a lot of the risk factors for sleep disorders are the same.

General Risk Factors For Sleep Disorders:

- Being over weight is a huge risk factor because you might have problems with breathing at night.

- Your neck size could be a risk factor depending on how small or how big it is.

- If your airway is very narrow you will have problems with tonsils or either your adenoids.

- High blood pressure problems can cause you not to sleep.

- People who smoke might cause inflammation.

- People who use tranquilizers, alcohol or drink lots of wine might have problems sleeping.

- Sometimes sleep disorders run in families.

- When you are older than 65 you have a higher chance of having a sleep disorder.

- Heart disorders can cause a big risk and so can brain tumors or strokes.
