What is a Polysomnography?

A Polysomnography is a test that is conducted when you are having problems sleeping to see if you have sleep apnea or another kind of disorder.

The following is monitored during a Polysomnography test:

- movement of your eye
- waves of your brain
- respiration
- audio and sounds from gasping plus snoring
- oxygen levels that are in your blood

After the Polysomnography test is done they will have a much better understanding of what kind of sleep disorder you have and what treatment is needed. They will talk and go over the results that they have found before they give you any kind of treatment. The treatment will vary according to what is confirmed on the  Polysomnography test. Sometimes treatment might be needed right away when other times it might not be. Most times the treatment will include therapy and medication according to how mild or severe the disorder is.
