What is Nocturnal Myoclonus?

Nocturnal Myoclonus is also known as Restless leg syndrome. During the middle of the night you could have discomfort with your legs by them moving a lot and causing you to stay awake during the middle of the night or either waking you up during a deep sleep.

Nocturnal Myoclonus Symptoms:

- having painful sensations that are abnormal in the legs

- discomfort that can be reduced by moving your legs

- needing to move your legs

- having problems sleeping

Causes of Nocturnal Myoclonus:

Right now the cause is not very known but there are some risk factors such as:

- peripheral neuropathy
- Parkinson's disease
- chronic kidney disease
- iron deficiency
- pregnancy
- medications
- hereditary

With each case it varies and such does the treatment. Sometimes it might result in having to change a diet or other times it could mean having to take medications to reduce Nocturnal Myoclonus.
