What is Hypopnea?

When you have problems with shallow breathing while you are sleeping or either a slow airflow you more then likely have a sleep disorder called: Hypopnea.

Hypopnea Symptoms:

- irritability
- not able to concentrate
- fatigue
- headache
- sleepiness

Hypopnea Causes:

- obesity
- nasal passage defects
- alcohol and smoking abuse
- sedatives
- respiratory disorders
- people who are over 65

Hypopnea Treatments:

- medications and supplements
- surgery
- change with diet
- exercise
- reducing stress
- therapy

Hypopnea on rare occasion might require surgery but a lot of times the medications and supplements given work. Sometimes a diet change is needed if you are having a lot of soft drinks and eating tons of sugar, plus exercise might help to reduce the symptoms. People who are drinking or smoking and have Hypopnea are encouraged and recommended to quit as that could be a high and dangerous risk factor that could lead to other serious disorders.
