What Sleep Disorders Do Children Suffer from?

Sleep disorders are just not restricted to adults. Many children, pre-adolescents and adolescents also get affected by sleep deprivations. Most children in the age group of 4-12 years experience bouts of arousal disorders. In this condition, the children are disturbed from sleep due to sleep walks or night terrors. Night terror is one of the most distressing situations when the child wakes up all of sudden in the middle of the sleep, terrified and confused. Sleep walking on the other hand is a dangerous disorder where the child walks for a period of 5-20 minutes during the state of sleep.

Sleep wake transition are other disorders that affect children. Children suffering from these conditions are often observed talking and laughing whilst sleeping. In this situation, the child does not remember his behavior during his sleep the following day. In addition, nightmares are other agitating conditions that rob sleep from children. In this condition, the child envisions a frightening dream during rapid eye movement. Nightmares are often the cause behind profuse sweating, increased pulse rates and rapid breathing among children during sleep. At last, bedwetting is a strong signal of sleep disorders. Such children have no control over their bladder functionalities because of which they urinate on bed.
